THE BLUE FISH
Atmosphere: The restaurant is big, spacious, and bright. The space itself is tastefully decorated - casual yet "upsacle." Your eyes are drawn to the settings, white linen tables with blue glasses and fish themed siverware!! It has a full bar and blue mosaic abounds. The restaurant has an outdoor seating area that would be perfect for cool outdoor evening dining and in springtime.Past the outdoor seating area, the establishment has a large standalone banquet room that is well suited for parties. There is an "upstairs" whre there is another bar/lounge area and some additional seating. Its a great place to come for a drink and listen to the live music that they feature in the evenings. The Menu : They have a lunch, dinner and Sunday Brunch Menu. The food here is, naturally, predominantly seafood. They serve up a good variety of seafood and prepared in just as many ways. They did not forget to cater to people who have a taste for something other than seafood - there are chicken, veal, and other non-seafood dishes. Your food is paired with great wine choices. For lunch, I had the Chicken Diane - chicken breast strips, cajun spices, sauteed mushrooms, shallots, garlic, white wine and green onions, over angel hair pasta. I didn't expect it to be as good as it really was since this is after all, a sefood restaurant. The dish was very good...the seasoned chicken strips were tender and juicy and the cajun spices in the pasta was not overpowering; the angel hair cooked sligtly over al dente (perfect for me!) It was a very satisfing lunch and for $10 it was a great value! My companion had the Fried Chicken on Belgain Waffle - crispy fried chicken breast served on a crispy waffle with a bourbon pecan syrup (you see this serverd up North in many places.) I had to chuckle when I saw the size of that waffle - the size fo the plate and at least 1 1/2" thick. Big as it was it was very light and airy - and they were generous with the pecan syrup (it was not overly sweet like others.) The entire combination was very good. Since we had a good experience with the lunch, I would definately return to sample the dinner menu as it will be a good benchmark of the quality and price point for the cuisine there.
The Service: Excellent. We were seated the minute we entered. We ordered some drinks and they were at our table promptly. Our food came out in a very timely manner, we didn't have to wait very long for it. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive during service. The Manager, John Ricks, was excellent and professional. The moment we took our first bite, he came over to our table to ask how the food was. This is the kind of exemplary service that one finds in a well run restaurant of this caliber.
