VILLAGE BREAD CAFE
As far as having a quick and somewhat healthy alternative for lunch, the Village Bread Cafe is certainly a good option vs. Panera, Jimmy John's, etc.
Atmosphere: In both the San Jose and Landing locations, the setting is very simple, with many tables and large enough to hold lunch crowds. Both were very clean and the tables wer cleaned immediately after someone left. You order your food at a counter, take a number, and your food will be brought out to you in a few minutes with very little waiting time. A nice touch is that the bring some bread with an olive oil dip while you wait.
Menu (click here to see) : The menu is mainly sandwiches, soups, and salads. They also have daily specials. All the sandwiches that I've had there were good and the toppings very fresh! Being neither a big salad or bread lover, I can say that salads and bread are definately fresh and good. Whenever I go, I end up leaving with a loaf or some bagels (even though they are baked vs. boiled.)
The first time I ate at Village Bread, I had the curried chicken salad with a side salad. It was quite good - the curry flavor was pretty subtle and not overpowering - nice alternative to the regular.
Service: Quick and efficient!
Overall I recommend this place for cleanliness and good value!
