We were going to catch a movie at the Regal and decided to have a quick bite to eat at Benito's on Philips Hwy.
Atmosphere: The restaurant is pretty large with many booths and a large bar area. Other than us, there were 4 other patrons at the bar. Decor is nice and the place is clean.
Menu: Typical Italian fare with pizzas. We ordered the fried calamari, fried cheese ravioli, and each had a Ceasar salad. Unfortunately, none of these items were quite up to the standards one would expect. The fried calamari was tough, stringy, and the batter hardly crispy. The fried ravioli was ok, nothing special. It seemed like the calamari and the ravioli both were commercially frozen items. Even the sauce tasted commercial grade. As for the Caesar Salad, it was not crisp (i.e. fresh) and the cheese...grated powdered cheese. I would not have expected this for the cost of the salad.
Service: Our waitress was attentive since we were the only table but it took longer than expected for our food.
I'm glad that we didn't actually try the dinner. If the 3 items were indicative of the quality of the food, then I would have wasted my money. For that matter, Speckled Hen next door makes better tasting, better cooked, and more crunchy calamari. Would not recommend.
